Hydrographic maps of the lagoon – Pagliaga

This series explores the interaction between two worlds: the morphology of the lagoon and the human presence that modifies it. Each work uses as a backdrop hydrographic maps of the Venetian lagoon dating back to the 1960s, onto which I overlay my engraving. The shapes and reliefs that characterize the delicate balance between land and water emerge through a pattern of numbers, highlighting the altimetry of the waters and navigable channels, creating a visual dialogue between nature and measurement.

In the foreground, the wooden poles used by fishermen for mussel farming stand as tangible symbols of this interaction. The engravings, with their two distinctive levels and different perspectives, reflect a harmonious coexistence, albeit not without impacts.

Each piece is unique, an artistic interpretation of a fragile and precious ecosystem, inviting reflection on our relationship with this extraordinary environment.
