Description
This engraving depicts the sea lavender, a plant found in the salt marshes of the Venice Lagoon.
Between late June and August/September, the inflorescences, up to about 40 cm tall, create monochromatic “gardens,” illuminating and coloring these landscapes immersed in the lagoon waters with vivid violet or lilac.
Technique: Engraving. Etching, salt aquatint, drypoint.
